In April 2017, I traveled to Australia on Air New Zealand for a video and writing project for Conde Nast Traveler. Together with videographer Jason Knight, I spent a week visiting the finer parts of New South Wales including the Hunter Valley, Blue Mountains, Wolgan Valley and, of course, Sydney. The latter city is, in my humble opinion, among the top three in the world for lifestyle. No place else has quite the mix of city and wilderness, culture and outdoors, that Sydney can offer. For one excellent week we tasted the best semillons in the world in the Hunter Valley vineyards, slurped Sydney rock oysters on a yacht with Opera House views and drove the winding roads through World Heritage areas and a veritable Outback just a few hours from the Southern Hemisphere’s capital. When it came time to leave the Antipodes, I was asking myself why I ever left Sydney back in 2001, when I had the pleasure of living there for a year. There’s truly nice place like it. Come along for the ride!
