It’s early August, and I’m about three miles off Destin, Florida. I’m relaxing on my safety stop over a site called White Hill, where the water at 15 feet is bathtub warm, 89 degrees F. Lots of things cruise by in the water column: tiny jellyfish, siphonophores, juvenile marine life, palometas and spadefish. I examine each and every thing that passes by in the gentle current, every speck.
