But the same old-fashioned entertainment for which the castle—and this rugged region in West Ireland—have always been known are the real reason to head here.
“What this has really done is secure the castle for three generations,” says Niall Rochford, Ashford Castle’s general manager. “Now it is what it was meant to be.”
